I think this is the best iPad case you can get that is compatible for the magic keyboard. There are literally only two cases in all of Amazon that are compatible with the magic keyboard. The cases are this one and the other one is the Pitaka brand one, which is $10 extra. That case had better reviews (but way less reviews than SwitchEasy CoverBuddy, I don't know if that matters), but I read from multiple reviews that if you had a glass screen protector it wouldn't close, which my 11 inch iPad Pro has. On the contrary, the SwitchEasy did have multiple reviews stating that it does close with a glass screen protector, so I decided to go for it. It closes very good. The only problem I see is that it feels kind of flimsy. So for users that need to use their iPads extensively, this might become an issue in the future, because it might not last long. Also the left side of the case is not covered/protected, and I guess it needs to be that way so it can close with the magic keyboard. If you need a very sturdy case, I recommend staying away from this one and probably look for one that it can be detached easily so you can put your bare iPad on the magic keyboard. In conclusion, this case only works for you if you need it to be compatible with your magic keyboard, and you occasionally need to hold in your hands to take advantage of the iPad's table capabilities. The case's magnets are also very strong and hold you iPad to your keyboard the same way the iPad magnets do. Even though is very expensive, this is the best there is. I wish someone can make a better one, but I don't know if that's possible taking in mind how thin that case has to be so it can close with the magic keyboard.I bought this after my Apple Pencil fell off of my iPad Pro onto a concrete floor, completely breaking the tip off, ruining the super expensive accessory I can't live without. I did a search to see what I could use to prevent this from happening, while allowing me to still use my Magic Keyboard. This seemed to be up there in the ratings and solved what I was looking for. Kind of expensive, but it costs less than continually replacing broken Apple Pencil's, so there's that...After receiving it and installing it, which was super simple, I started watching a video through my earbuds. The volume was super high and I needed to quickly turn the volume down. This is when I realized that my fingers could barely reach the volume and power buttons! While I'm able to still adjust the volume and hit the power buttons, it isn't easy. I now have to press my fingers hard to squeeze into the opening to make enough contact to press the buttons. To make matters more annoying, I often take screenshots and reboot the iPad as I do a lot of beta testing. Performing the screenshot and hitting the volume up then down and then holding the power button to reboot isn't as easy as it used to be.I feel like I'm making a big deal out of something that shouldnt' be a big deal... but it is a big enough annoyance that I feel I need to put it out there. Maybe I just have giant fingers, so YMMV!This is going to be a long review, but I wanted to use my own experiences with this case to address a few of the things I’d seen in reviews that concerned me before I bought this case myself, so I could potentially help someone else reading reviews before purchasing as well!I was looking for something - anything, really - to add SOME sort of extra protection to my iPad Pro 11”, since the Apple Magic Keyboard Case is amazing, but your iPad is essentially unprotected if you have to take it out of the case to use an app that won’t work with the landscape-mode-only keyboard case. There’s not much on the market for this specific need yet, and I was a little concerned based on reviews for this, but I ordered it anyway, and I’m glad I did.To start, as reviews have stated, this case is very thin/lightweight, which concerned me at first, but it’s not paper-thin and it’s just thick enough to protect my iPad and still do what it’s supposed to. It HAS to be pretty thin for it to work with the magnets that hold the iPad in the Magic Keyboard Case, and this case certainly does! Although it’s thin and very light, it somehow makes the whole iPad/keyboard case feel sturdier? I can’t totally explain it, but it does, and I actually like it way better this way! With this case on, I can use my iPad out of the Magic Keyboard Case and not feel totally and completely panicked like I was without it, thankfully! And because it’s so thin, I can still have a tempered glass screen protector on my iPad with this case and it’ll still close, unlike the only other case I saw that’s compatible with the Apple keyboard cases, where you couldn’t have a screen protector on with it or the Magic Keyboard Case wouldn’t shut.Second, the Apple Pencil holder IS in an inconvenient spot, it comes out of the front/screen-side of the case and it makes it pretty difficult to take screenshots and sometimes change the volume, but I found the keyboard shortcut to take a screenshot with the Magic keyboard case instead (CMD + SHIFT + 3, in case anyone wondered!), and I can use the volume slider in the control center, so I don’t need to use the volume buttons very often anyway now!I definitely would have preferred the pencil holder come out of the back/bottom of the case as opposed to the front/top, but it’s okay with me, because it keeps my Apple Pencil in the case and I never have to worry about it falling off anymore, which is GREAT, and there’s a hole in the back of the pencil slot to push your pencil out. It’s great that it doesn’t cause any interference with the magnetic charging/attaching of the Apple Pencil, either!Lastly, the charging port issue I saw mentioned. I was really worried I would have trouble charging my iPad due to the reviews saying their charger wouldn’t fit with this case on. I have the Apple brand charging cable for my iPad, and it fits just fine, although I did notice that the charging cable just needs an extra, very delicate little push to make sure it’s plugged in all the way with the case on, but otherwise, no issues so far!Overall, I really love this case. It adds that extra layer of protection I was looking for without adding any substantial weight, but just enough to add some extra sturdiness to my iPad + Magic Keyboard Case, and I really love that it has the Apple Pencil slot, since I’ve had some issues with my Apple Pencil not staying magnetized and falling off/breaking the tips. So, for me, the mildly inconvenient location of the pencil holder is far outweighed by the usefulness of it!I’m glad I bought this, and I’ll never use my iPad without it as long as I have my Magic Keyboard Case!Update to below: the vendor ultimately replaced the unit free of charge. It took maybe 2 weeks but they stood behind their product. I do like the product and assume the connector issue was a one off so I would recommend the CoverBuddy.I wouldn't buy this without an extended warranty. My Amazon return window expired July 31. On August 31 one of the 3 required magnetic connectors (that connects the keyboard to the iPad) fell out. So now the cover is useless and I paid for essentially 2 months of protection. The manufacturer should stand behind their product better than that. The description says it does not affect the operation of the magic keyboard. This is not true. Cannot close the magic keyboard properly with the case in place and this causes the iPad battery to drain. It forces the magic keyboard to sit ever so slightly adjar when trying to close it.Despite the mixed reviews of the SwitchEasy Coverbuddy I took the chance with the purchase.I’ve been using the Coverbuddy with my 12.9” iPad Pro and Smart Keyboard Folio for a few days now. So far it’s worked well with my use case although there are some issues that I’m already struggling to overlook:Major;- Doesn’t fit the iPad properly (pictured) and will pop off when not in use with my Folio case- The USB-C port is misaligned (pictured) so will only work with the Apple USB-C cable that came with the iPad (I use an Anker cable for both my iPad and MacBook)Minor;- The volume buttons are much harder to access due to the design of the case- The speaker/microphone cutouts are misalignedPros;- Protects the Apple Pencil from any knocks- Protects two corners of the iPad that would otherwise have noneTo summarise, the Coverbuddy is an excellent idea but it needs to be more refined. Unfortunately for me the cons outweigh the pros when used with a 12.9” iPad Pro- it seems the issues I have are similar with other 12.9” iPad users but they are much less common with the 11” model. Maybe I’ll give it a try if I get an 11” iPad!This could have been such a great product but sadly you can't charge the iPad if the cover is on. The hole for the charger is not big enough so although it might start charging when you push the lead in, as soon as you remove your hand and the pressure, the charger pulls marginally away from the iPad, enough to lose connection and stop charging. I discovered this when I went to charge my iPad the first night after attaching the cover and realised it hadn't charged ready for my early morning start. Not the best time to discover this. It is a shame as this would have been perfect otherwise, but considering the cost I wasn't prepared to have to remove it every time I wanted to charge my device and have since returned for a refund. The only choice to protect the sides and back of the iPad Pro when removed from the Magic Keyboard. It allows the case to close without removing the SwitchEasy cover. I fully endorse this product, the only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the price is ridiculous.I bought this to be used with my Apple Magic Keyboard for the 11” iPad Pro. I wanted something that would hold the Apple Pencil safely and add some protection to the corners of the iPad and the back when out of the keyboard; for this purpose it works perfectly. The case is ultra light-weight and thin. There are magnets in it and it holds excellently to the keyboard case. It closes well without adding bulk. I feel much more comfortable and confident with this added to the magic keyboard. Would recommend.
